Rev. Donald K. Sadler




Reverend Donald Kerwin Sadler, the second Pastor of the New Morning Star Baptist Church is a native of the District of Columbia where he attended public schools. Pastor Sadler has matriculated at Brookwein Business Institute as well as Montgomery College, majoring in Business Administration. He has also received his Theological education at the Washington Baptist Seminary and has completed graduate studies at Howard Univeritys School of Divinity and is a graduate of the Baptist Theological Seminary of Zimbabwe.

Pastor Sadler is married to the former Gwendolyn Battle, who is a native of Washington, DC. Gwen is an asset to the ministry, a loving and devoted wife and mother to their sons, Jarmil Dewan and Demetrius Kerwin. With the love and support of his family, it has aided Pastor Sadler in diligently working towards the betterment of mankind and leading his congregation as teacher, preacher, counselor, and administrator. He is also active in the religious and civic communities in the Washington Metropolitan area and has served in various capacities throughout the country as:

Pastor Sadler is a member of the National Baptist Convention, USA well as the Baptist Convention of DC and Vicinity where he served over a decade as Sectional Vice President. He has also served two terms as the President of the Missionary Baptist Ministers Conference of Washington, DC and Vicinity, as well as two terms as the President of the Baptist Educational Congress of DC and Vicinity, and the past President of the Washington Baptist Seminary Alumni Association. He also serves as a Board Member of the Council of Churches of Greater Washington. Pastor Sadler is the Vice Chairman of the Trustee Board of the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary where he is the Professor of African American Religion and Ministerial Internship Supervisor.

Pastor Sadler has served as a Chaplain in the Pastoral Care Department of Sibley Memorial Hospital. He is an alumnus of the Pastoral Excellence Program of Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention, a Board Member of the Stoddard Baptist Home, and is a State Director of Christian Education and is a certified Dean, Sunday School Publishing Board, National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. as well as a member of the Advisory Council of the Salvation Army Corps, Adult Rehabilitation Center.

The members of the New Morning Star Baptist Church family sincerely appreciate our pastor. He is a dynamic speaker, preacher, teacher, and friend. As the pastor for more than a decade, he keeps the church family spiritually fed and nurtured as he continues to strengthen our faith in God. His ability to lead and guide his members in the Holy Spirit is a treasure given only by God.
